Glycoproteome Discovery Engine

The human genome contains only around 20,000 protein-coding genes. Around half of the proteins encoded by these genes are glycoproteins with specific carbohydrate post-translational modifications called glycans. These humble sugar moieties affect protein receptor binding, enzymatic processing, stability, barrier functions, and more. Glycans also contain a tremendous amount of biological information and increase the diversity of the human proteome by orders of magnitude.

Leveraging a collection of clinical samples and a proprietary discovery platform, Octagon has elucidated the unique role of glycobiology in the development of immune pathology. Octagon has multiple programs in development based on this approach and is continuing to build on these important insights.
